Our friends at LifeWorks NW approached us to help them elevate their annual Iron Chef fundraising event. In years past, the materials were more event focused with little or no mention of supporting the important mission of providing early intervention to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect in Oregon. 

Messaging Strategy

It was important to strike a balance between promoting a fun event, the talented local chefs and getting the message of the mission in the forefront for supporters to remember the importance of the evening. We selected moments across the deliverables to either elevate the mission or the event itself. As a result, the full suite of printed materials provided a cohesive, branded experience that always included the core message, "Let's Keep Our Children Safe and Families Strong."

Jin Soo Yang of Bamboo Sushi was awarded the top prize for the evening, taking home the title of Portland’s 2015 Original Iron Chef. The event raised awareness and netted a record amount of donations in support of LifeWorks NW’s Relief Nurseries, working to prevent child abuse and neglect in Portland and beyond.

We made a point of interspersing photos, quotes and statistics throughout the printed program that were compelling providing tangible reasons to give and support the organization. The result was enthusiastic participation and support for their annual fundraiser and an invitation to return next year to do it all again!
