LifeWorks NW

Promoting a healthy community by providing quality program materials.

Think Joule had been working with LifeWorks NW for several years to produce a quarterly newsletter and create the collateral materials for their annual fundraisers—Something to Talk About Breakfast and Portland's Original Iron Chef—when the organization underwent a rebrand. The new brand beautifully expressed the quality of their services, but an audit found the program materials to be inconsistent, incomplete, and now, outdated. LifeWorks NW contracted Think Joule to bring the full suite of program materials into a cohesive branded set.

Our challenge was to create a system that could flex with varying amounts and kinds of content. We started by creating templates and standardizing sizes to a double-side program card, a tri-fold brochure and an 8.5" x 11" flyer. We created a consistent header/footer for each template and developed a modular system of blocks to accommodate the wide range of content.

A central tenet of LifeWorks NW mission is diversity and equity and it was important that we accurately represent all of the clients and populations served in each piece while honoring privacy and anonymity. We amassed a large library of images cropped to and organized by block sizes - square, vertical and horizontal - so that LifeWorks NW could easily select images for specific programs.

To further reinforce their purpose and make it accessible, we created a series of internal- and external-facing posters for LifeWorks NW's offices and treatment facilities, including the mission statement, commitment to diversity and education and employment information for clients.

Ultimately, we delivered a full suite of cohesively branded program materials in both Spanish and English that help LifeWorks NW carry out their mission to provide well-being for all. The result is a beautiful and approachable brand that invites a diverse population to seek comfort, guidance and services.
